iPad Air 2 Specs, Release Date: No New Design Changes For Apple's Lightweight Slate, But Expected To Be Boast More Features, Will Debut With iPad Mini This Month

Last year, the entire mobile market was surprised to see the new design of the iPad, where it packed a much slimmer design and rounded edges which are similar to the iPad mini's form factor. That is why as early as January, a lot of people are already looking forward for the iPad Air 2 specs and release date.

According to the report by Phone Arena, the new super slim slate will indeed make its debut on October 16, together with the iPad mini Retina 2 (iPad mini 3).

However, as far as specs are concerned, there may not be a lot of changes from last year.

Some expected upgrades though include a more powerful 64-bit supported chipset, the A8, which already runs on the latest iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones.

In a report, the device will be 0.5mm thinner because of the removal of the mute/rotation lock switch.

Other expected specs include the Touch ID home button that features a fingerprint scanner, one that should work with the Cupertino manufacturer's Apple Pay.

It is also rumored that the new iPad Air would get double the RAM (now 2GB) from previous versions to help with the device's capability to run multiple apps at the same time on a split screen, a feature of the iOS 8.
