2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Kenneth Faried Signs Extension With Denver Nuggets! Breakthrough Performance In FIBA World Cup Brings Big Paycheck!

Kenneth Faried shows the perks of participating in the international tournaments. For teams that do not usually enjoy national exposure, representing the US makes them household names. Kenneth Faried maximized his day in the sun.

With the entire nation and not just the Mile High City cheering them on, Faried displayed his athleticism and grit-what earned him the nickname the "Manimal" in games against bigger and taller opponents. The seamless teamwork that Team USA cultivated led to spectacular plays that showed Faried at his finest. What was predicted to be the weakest Team USA since the improved program became one of the most dominant.

Now, a report by Yahoo Sports shows that his success has translated into big bucks:

"Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried has reached agreement on a five-year, $60 million contract extension, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Faried is part of the 2011 NBA draft class eligible for extensions until Oct. 31.

The deal includes a partial guarantee in the fifth year that assures Faried he will make no less than $52 million over the life of the contract, sources said.

Denver general manager Tim Connelly and Faried's agent, Thad Foucher of Wasserman Media Group, started to seriously exchange proposals in the past week and ultimately came to terms on a deal Sunday night, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Faried has developed into one of the NBA's most relentless talents, a fierce rebounder and defender who has excelled offensively for the Nuggets when the game is speeded up. Faried played an integral part of the United States national team's gold-medal performance in the 2014 World Cup of Basketball in Spain."

Faried did not demand a max contract like Eric Bledsoe of the Phoenix Suns. The amount may be considered a bargain if they expect him his performance to improve. Faried averaged 13.7 points and 8.6 rebounds last season, according to Yahoo NBA stats.

Top draft pick Kyrie Irving was the first to sign an extension for the class of 2011. Other prospects anticipating extensions for their teams are Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Enes Kanter, Jimmy Butler and Alec Burks.
