Kevin Durant To Houston Rockets? James Harden Will Be Used To Recruit Former Teammate! Will Former Texas Star Return To His Lone Star State Roots?

The recruitment game in the NBA has gone crazier than ever! Kevin Durant will not be a free agent until the end of the 2015-16 season but various teams are already making their moves to acquire him. The Houston Rockets will be at the forefront, and they will use any connections they have with KD.

There are some thin lines. Kevin Durant spent his lone college season (one of the most remarkable stretches ever) at the University of Texas. He won't be a stranger in the Lone Star state.

There is also another ace that the Rockets are holding. James Harden was supposed to be a part of the triumvirate that the Oklahoma City Thunder were assembling to take down the Miami Heat and their own Big Three. Harden, who assumed a leadership task with the victorious Team USA in the recently concluded FIBA World Cup.

As ESPN reports, they will place Harden at the forefront of their pitch:

"The Rockets are widely expected to take a step back this season, thanks to all the depth they squandered on the Bosh dice roll, but they expect to have significant salary-cap room next summer -- when they can chase point guards as accomplished as Goran Dragic and Rajon Rondo if they choose -- as well as in the summer of 2016.

Which is when, sources say, they'd like to give Harden an opportunity to serve as Houston's lead recruiter in the pursuit of a free agent named Kevin Wayne Durant."

Of course, they will definitely not be alone. This will probably be bigger than the LeBron James Free Agency in 2010. The LA Lakers are ready in 2016. Kobe Bryant's mammoth contract will be off the books and with the projected new salary cap boost, they can have as much as three maximum player slots to offer. KD could handpick his own Big Three and play in Los Angeles. The Washington Wizards have homecourt advantage and what is arguably the best young backcourt in the league.

Then of course, there's Oklahoma City. The Thunder could not add pieces because of the luxury tax, but if the salary cap gets a boost, they can fill in the few holes they have.

Interesting and crazy-that's NBA Free Agency!
