The latest batch of exports from Japan of anime and manga licensed for North America were announced today. Highlights from the list include the latest standalone film of legendary anime series "Dragon Ball Z," part four of "Mobile Suit Gundam UC," and Shojo manga volumes of "Kamisama Kiss" and "Vampire Knight."

"Dragon Ball Z" creator Akira Toriyama explained a few things about Goku's Super Saiyan forms in Saikyo Jump (via Dragon Ball Insider):

"Super Saiyan 2 and 3 are nothing more than powered-up variations of Super Saiyan. After the fight with Beerus, Goku realized that mastering his normal state and Super Saiyan would raise his level more and sap less strength, so I think he probably won't become Super Saiyan 2 or 3 any more," he said.

Based on this Reddit thread, fans feel pretty happy about this admission, since it adds some specialness back to Goku assuming his various Super Saiyan forms, which will probably make the most recent DBZ movie release all that more exciting. The latest North American "Dragon Ball Z" content to be released is "Dragon Ball Z Battle of the Gods." Funimation licensed the uncut Blu-ray and DVD for North America, and it is available for purchase starting today.

In addition to "Dragon Ball Z Battle of the Gods," there's also part four of "Mobile Suit Gundam UC" on DVD. It is licensed by Sunrise and is also available for purchase starting today.

Highlights from the North American manga release list are "Kamisama Kiss" and "Vampire Knight." The latest volumes of those manga are both licensed by Viz Media and both will be available starting today. It's good news especially for "Vampire Knight" fans who may have been concerned that it might be banned from libraries in Texas due to protests.
