'The Thousandth Man' Premieres on Last Friday

MBC Friday Sitcom "The Thousandth Man" unveiled.

Premiering on Friday, "The Thousandth Man" deals with a fox lady who must eat the livers of 1000 men in order to become a full human being but she falls in love with her 1000th man, and struggles between her love and her life.

The past couple of years, Korean dramas have been crazed about fantasy. Many dramas like "Time Slip Dr.Jin" and "Rooftop Prince" dealt with the idea of time-slips and the new dramas like "Arang Magistrate" and "Faith" all deal with fantastical elements within a historical context.

"Thousandth Man" is a fantasy sitcom that deals with a family of fox ladies. We can easily imagine how a famous and well-known folklore like fox women would mesh with present times. It's a question whether "Thousandth Man" will be able to carry on the fantasy popularity in Korea. Though a well-known folklore could be easy to understand, it also devalues its uniqueness and fresh materials.

The cast centers around Kang Ye Won and Lee Chun Hee but it also features T-ARA Hyomin and INFINITE Woohyun, who haven't necessarily been on television a lot. It's a fresh group and most of the media coverage is centering around the two idol actors.

Hyomin's willingness to attend the press conference was shocking in itself, after being punished with the T-ARA controversy. She has consistently been attempting to make a name as an actress and awaits strict scrutiny from viewers and reviewers alike.

INFINITE Woohyun vowed to break the stereotype of idol actors as do the others and people are hoping that he will keep his promise. Will Woohyun be able to carry on the successful streak of performances that INFINITE members have shown in other dramas like "Answer 1997"?

'Thousandth Man' premieres this Friday.
