MTV VMA 2012: One Direction, Rihanna Dominate the Video Music Awards

This year's MTV Video Music Awards were dominated by One Direction.

On Thursday night the popular British boyband took home three trophies edging out Chris Brown and MIA, who each grabbed two.

One Direction nabbed "Best Pop Video" and "Most Share-Worthy Video" for their debut hit single "What Makes You Beautiful" by their fans and was also named "Best New Artist."

Rihanna collected the biggest ward of the night "Video of the Year" for "We Found Love."

The 2012 Video Music Awards took place Thursday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles hosted by Kevin Hart. Along with international sensation Psy's VMA debut surprising the audience.
