Jung Ryeo Won, Yoon Eun Hye, and Hwang Jung Eum are among the first actresses to steal the viewers' attention this fall.

All three of them also have in common the fact that they used to be part of K-Pop idol groups. However, it took them a long time for them to get rid of that title. In the end, they ended up gaining the title of 'actress' rather than an 'idol actress' with their expansive filmographies.

Jung Ryeo Won is recently gaining popularity with the new SBS drama "King of Dramas." She used to be a member of Chakra in the late 90s but became an actress with many dramas such as "My Lovely Sam Soon," "Ja Myung Go", "Salaryman Cho Han Ji" and movies like "Castaway on the Moon" and "Never Ending Story."

Baby VOX's youngest Yoon Eun Hye has done much the same. She appeared with "Princess Hours" but really gained respect with "Coffee Prince," one of the most successful Korean dramas to date. However, she took a year and a half long break after "Lie to Me" and now she returns in MBC's "I Miss You" next to JYJ's Yoochun.

Hwang Jung Eum used to be a member of a girl group called Sugar and gained enormous popularity with the MBC sitcom "High Kick," where she showed off her comic talent. She appeared in "Giant," "Can you Hear My Heart," and "Golden Time." She has come back now with SBS PLUS' "Full House Take 2."

There are more actresses who broke the title of "idol" and they are SES' Eugene and FinKL's Sung Yuri and Lee Jin.

Eugene was the first one to start on the actress career and her project "King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo" broke the 50% viewer ratings record. Sung Yuri appeared in "Hong Gil Dong," "Romance Town," and "Feast of the Gods."

Lee Jin also made a good debut with "King and I" and most recently on the drama "The Great Seer."

With more and more idols making their way to the screen, we realize that these new idols have these first generation actresses to thank for their successful set ways and abilities to transcend the two genres.
