Shailene Woodley's Once Rumored Girlfriend Ellen Page Claims Being Out Pave Way For 'Personal And Professional Styles To Fuse'

Ellen Page graced Vogue's April issue where Shailene Woodley's once rumored girlfriend weighed in on how her coming out influenced her fashion sense.

The "Juno" star said in the accompanying interview, per MTV, that she's now freed herself from dressing within the confines of what society expects girls to dress.

"I used to feel this constant pressure to be more feminine; a quiet or sometimes not-so-quiet demand-'You need to wear a dress or people will think you're gay,'" Ellen Page said.

Since coming out, Shailene Woodley's once rumored girlfriend said that, "Now I feel a sense of freedom in dressing, and I'm enjoying it so much. I love wearing a Saint Laurent suit to an event. I mean, what a gift."

Ellen Page came out on Valentine's Day last year during the Time to Thrive event, which promotes the welfare of LGBTs, in Las Vegas.

"I'm here today because I am gay," she started in her speech. "And because maybe I can make a difference, to help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.

"I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission. I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered. And I'm standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of all that pain," the "Juno" star said.

"It's weird because here I am, an actress, representing -- at least in some sense -- an industry that places crushing standards on all of us. Not just young people, but everyone. Standards of beauty, of a good life, of success -- standards that, I hate to admit, have affected me," Shailene Woodley's once rumored girlfriend added.

Since coming out, Ellen Page has shown her preference for trucker hats and jackets.
