Sony PS4 Leaked Photos of New PlayStation Controller with Touchpad [PHOTO]

Recently a leaked photo claims to be an early prototype of Sony PlayStation 4 controller.

The controller in the photo incorporates a built-in touchpad in the middle of the familiar DualShock layout. As well as new analog sticks and remodeled shoulder buttons.

The next-generation console is building great excitement especially after Sony sent out invitations to an event next week to discuss "the future of PlayStation."

Sony has kept a close lid regarding the expected launch and so far there is only an official teaser video released on YouTube announcing the date of the event and to "be the first to know."

Sony's spokesman Msaki Tsukakoshi only shared, "We will be talking about the PlayStation business" when asked about the purpose of the event.

The photo revealed by games website Destructoid, shows what appears to be an updated DualShock controller plugged into a software development kit.

It seems to back up rumors that began earlier this week of adding L2 and R2 buttons that have also been overhauled and improved. The blue light on the top bears resemble that on Sony's PlayStation Move motion controllers.

As Sony purchased a leading cloud-based gaming company last year there were rumors that the new machine would be heavily focused on the could. Sony paid $380 million for Gaikai in June of last year.

Last PlayStation event in January 2011 was used to reveal the PlayStation Vita hand-held console. Also in 2005 a similar meeting demonstrated the prototype PS3 and in 1999 unveiled PS2. The current generation has sold more than 70 million units since its release.
