Rapper 2 Chainz has been arrested Thursday night on drug charges in Maryland, where he was supposed to perform a college event.

Maryland State Police spokesman Sgt. Marc Black said troopers stopped a van near Easton for speeding and smelled marijuana. A backpack in the van had a marijuana grinder and traces of marijuana, police said.

The 35-year-old, whose real name is Tauheed Epps stated the backpack belonged to him and was arrested, the Baltimore Sun reported.

He is facing up to a year in jail and a fine up to $1,000, according to the Associated Press.

Epps was released but not before he was allegedly asked to pose for a photo along with the Maryland policeman.

2 Chainz's Twitter describes the night event differently saying, his security guard claimed the backpack as his, but police didn't believe it.

"Not to mention my security said it was his and they said , he don't smoke ,, how da fuk u know? Haha wut a valentines day!!!" he tweeted. He also shared a photo on Instagram of himself posing with two police officers suggesting the police had asked him for a picture, after the alleged incident.

"I work hard and pray even harder , we gone always b good yall...." he wrote.

The "I'm Different" rapper shared his ordeal on Twitter and still made it to his performance at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's homecoming.

The Grammy Award nominee was also arrested at LaGuardia Airport last May charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree when TSA agents discovered what they believed to be brass knuckles in his carry-on.

2 Chainz was nominated for best rap song, rap album and rap performance at Sunday's Grammys Awards.
