Rachel McAdams split with her longtime beau Michael Sheen. The breakup was confirmed on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Rachel McAdams, 34, and Sheen, 44, split after two years of exclusively seeing each other, according to Us Weekly.

McAdams and Sheen met on the set of Woody Allen's 2010 film "Midnight in Paris." In the film, McAdams and Sheen's characters were romantically involved. McAdams has maintained that she and Sheen did not start dating while filming.

She said to Stella magazine, "I feel strongly about not doing [that] when I'm working. We became quite good friends, which I think is a great way to start. I felt very blessed to have made a Woody Allen film in Paris together."

Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen were photographed together throughout 2010, and finally went public with their relationship at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011, according to People.

Prior to her relationship with Sheen, McAdams had dated her 'The Notebook' co-star Ryan Gosling, to whom she was even engaged. Gosling and McAdams split in 2007.

Fans on Twitter reacted to the split, with some suggesting that McAdams and Gosling give it another shot. One user said, "Now that Rachel McAdams is single again, its time for her to get back with Ryan Gosling."

Another commented, "The only thing that can make up for the Rachel McAdams/Michael Sheen break upalooza is a GOSLING/MCADAMS reunion. Only acceptable outcome."

Sheen has a daughter with Kate Beckinsale, whom he dated from 1995 to 2003.

Rachel McAdams will appear in "To The Wonder" as Ben Affleck's hometown sweetheart, which will be released on April 12.

She will also star in the movie "About Time," which is about a man who travels back in time.
