Actor Chris Cooper will join the cast of "The Amazing Spiderman 2" as spidey's arch villain Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin.

The Green Goblin was originally brought to life in the 2002 Spiderman film by actor Willem Defoe. Cooper will be taking on a different role in the rebooted Spiderman franchise directed by Marc Webb.

So far the only conformation is the Cooper will play Osborn but there is no word on whether or not Osborn's evil alter-ego the Green Goblin will appear on screen.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 already has two super villains lined up to face the web-slinging hero, and two super actors are set to play the parts.

Oscar nominee Jamie Foxx is going to play Electro, a man who gains the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning. Paul Giamatti will assume the role of the Rhino, a villain with super speed and super strength.

The first "Amazing Spiderman" was basically a retelling of the Toby McGuire movie. It was the same old boy loses uncle, boy gets super powers, and boy falls in love story.

"The Amazing Spiderman" franchise seems to be following in the original's footsteps by adding to many new characters and villains to the next film.

Also joining the cast is Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, Felicity Jones as Felicia Hardy, and Shaliene Woodley who will be taking over as Mary-Jane Watson.

Reprising their roles in the film will be Emma Stone who plays Gwen Stacy and Andrew Stone as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man.
