Kaley Cuoco Supports Hopper Despite CBS Lawsuit

Kaley Cuoco has deleted a sponsored tweet promoting Dish Network's Hopper, which CBS and other networks believe is illegal.

Cuoco, one of the stars of the CBS hit show, "The Big Bang Theory," proved that she does not always follow suit with her network.

Dish Network paid the 27-year-old actress to express her support of the 'Hopper' via her Twitter account.

The advertisement read, "Amazing! Watching live TV anywhere on the #Hopper looks pretty awesome! Now where can I find a tiny beer? #ad" and linked her 1.2 million followers to an informational site about the Dish product.

The Hopper is a service from Dish Network that allows users to simply "hop" over commercial breaks automatically. CBS is currently suing Dish over the service.

In her tweet, Cuoco didn't mention the ability to skip commercial breaks, instead highlighting the fact that users are able to watch television on their portable devices.

The tweet was later taken down by the actress, much to Dish Network's disappointment. In an email response to CNET, one Dish spokesman said, "We felt Kaley was a good match for our brand and that her fans represented our customers and potential customers who would be interested in the benefits of Hopper."

Dish Network further accused CBS of forcing Kaley Cuoco to remove the Twitter ad. Joe Clayton, CEO for Dish, said in a statement, "It's disappointing that CBS - once the exemplar of editorial independence and innovation - continues to use its heavy hand to hold back progress from consumers."

CBS responded in a statement saying, "Once again, Joe Clayton demonstrates his dubious gift for hyperbole and hucksterism. No demands were made, but it's clear that Dish's culture of fabrication is alive and well."

CBS is suing Dish Network, claiming the Hopper service alters their content in an illegal and unauthorized way. Similarly, Fox and NBCUniversal have filed lawsuits of their own against Dish because of the service, and Dish has retaliated by suing all four major networks in return.

In the end, even though the tweet was removed and Kaley Cuoco has been thrown into the middle of a tense legal battle, because of her influence, the link she originally tweeted was also posted by several of her followers.
