Las Vegas Shooting Suspect Arrested a Week Later in Los Angeles

The Las Vegas Strip shooting suspect that killed three people in a pre-dawn incident that sparked a deadly, fiery crash is now finally under arrest.

Ammar Asim Faruq Harris accused of gunning down a rapper in his Maserati last week was apprehended in Southern California around noon on Thursday in North Hollywood, California.

FBI spokeswoman Lourdes Arcoho said FBI agents and members of the Los Angeles Department's Fugitive Task Force made the arrest.

"We can confirm that the LAPD-FBI task force arrested a fugitive from Las Vegas wanted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department," Los Angeles police spokesman Lieutenant Andy Neiman said.

Harris was detained "without incident" in the Los Angeles neighborhood and will be held pending extradition proceedings, Las Vegas police said in a news release.

The 26-year-old, a self-described pimp, was the sole suspect as he was the subject of a multi-state manhunt following the February 21 shooting. He fired at least five shots into a Maserati sports car, killing Kenneth Cherry, who he had an argument with earlier in the valet area of a Las Vegas Strip resort. Then the Maserati crashed into a taxi, killing the driver and a businesswoman from Washington state.

Las Vegas police say Harris has an "extensive and violent criminal history" that includes arrests for robbery, sexual assault, kidnapping and soliciting prostitution.
