Charlie Sheen has been talking to the media lately about his desire to help and mentor Lindsey Lohan.

The Anger Management actor recently co-starred with Lohan in the upcoming 'Scary Movie 5.' The troubled Charlie Sheen thinks he can help Lohan get her life back on track.

Sheen had a public melt down in 2011 when he was arrested for abusing his wife and using cocaine. At that time, Sheen was fired from his hit CBS show 'Two And A Half Men."

CBS killed off Sheen's character, Charlie Harper, and replaced him with Walden Schmidt, played by Ashton Kutcher.

Sheen thinks he can help Lohan because he has been on the path she is currently traveling.

Lohan has been having a slew of legal troubles, including being charged for the theft of a diamond necklace from a Los Angeles jewelry store. She has also been in and out of rehab for alcohol and drug abuse.

Most recently, Lindsey Lohan was involved in a car accident in New York City when she hit a man walking on the street outside of a nightclub.

Charlie Sheen told TMZ, "I have a kinship with [Lindsay] who clearly needs a mentor, whether she wants one or not. She can continue to hang out with her dress shredding club buddies, or turn to me for some advice from a guy who's been down the road as well as every other side trail on the journey."

Sheen and Lohan became such fast friends that rumors of a budding romance appeared while the pair was filming "Scary Movie 5."

Sheen told TMZ "I love her, I respect her, and I've never laid a finger on her that wasn't on film."

Lohan responded to TMZ telling them she doesn't want Sheen's help. She doesn't believe in the "takes one to know one" philosophy. She added that she knows her life is "out of control."

However, Lohan didn't seem to mind accepting Charlie Sheen's help in the form of a $100,000 check to help pay off her taxes.

Lohan is scheduled to appear as a guest star  on Charlie Sheen's FX show 'Anger Management.'
