Fake Bishop at Vatican, Sneaks Into Cardinals Meeting, Escorted Out By Swiss Guards

A fake bishop sneaked into Vatican Monday during a meeting of more than 100 cardinals to discuss the election of the next Pope.

Ralph Napierski dressed in short cassock, "an unusual" cross necklace and a purple sash that was actually a scarf. Instead of a skullcap worn by other cardinals he wore a black fedora.

The German man managed to pass through check point and got into the conference for a short time before he was escorted out by Swiss Guards.

Napierski told reporters that his name was "Basilius" and was a member of "Italian Orthodox Church" which doesn't exist.

Before he was discovered, the imposter told reporters the church "made a mistake by moving priests" who were accused of pedophilia around different parishes.

A spokesman with the Vatican, Father Federico Lombardi said he was not aware of this incident in the Vatican conference, "I'm not aware of this at all-I was inside the hall and all those inside were real cardinals."

The Daily Telegraph reports that Napierski's website states he practices "a system to enable persons to control computers with the power of thoughts."
