Harrison Ford Lands Role In Anchorman 2 Alongside Will Ferrell, Kristin Wiig, Paul Rudd

Harrison Ford landed a role as a legendary newscaster in the Will Ferrell-starring Anchorman 2.

Harrison Ford will also soon reprise his role as the iconic Han Solo in the coming Star Wars sequel.

In Anchorman 2, Ford will play a legendary newsman, like the real life Tom Brokaw or Walter Cronkite.

Ford has previously played an anchorman in the 2010 romantic comedy Morning Glory, produced by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk.

The Adam McKay film, Anchorman 2, will begin shooting this month in Atlanta, according to THR.

However, The Daily Mail has already spotted Harrison Ford on the set for the franchise.

Harrison Ford joined Will Ferrell on the New Orleans set of the new film just hours after he announced he would be joining the cast.

Ford was seen on set sporting short brown hair, a smart suit and glasses.

Anchorman 2 will feature Will Ferrell, James Marsden, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Kristin Wiig, Christina Applegate and David Koechner, in addition to Harrison Ford.

The screenplay for the Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy sequel was written by Ferrell and McKay. The duo is also producing the film with help from Judd Apatow and Kevin Messick.

Little is known about the plot of the Anchorman sequel, or that of Harrison Ford's other upcoming film, Star Wars: Episode VII.

Judd Apatow told MTV News that the script for the comedy was downright hilarious. He said, "We read it a few weeks ago and people were laughing so hard that at about 40 minutes in we all just ran out of gas."

"It was hard to read the whole thing because we got tired [from laughing]. I've never seen anyone delight in playing a character more than Will acting like Ron Burgundy all day," he continued

"He's just so happy doing it, it's infectious."

Anchorman 2 is scheduled to release in theaters on Dec. 20 of 2013.
