One Direction groupies are to be avoided by the members of the world-famous boy band, according to an insider source.

The members of One Direction, Harry Styles; Zayn Malik; Niall Horan; Liam Payne; and Louis Tomlinson, have reached celebrity status as one of the biggest boy bands ever and as a result have a number of fans and groupies.

One Direction is regularly swarmed with groupies wherever they go.

Due to their huge popularity and the publicity that comes with it, the boys of One Direction have been warned to stay away from female groupies to avoid any potential scandals.

A source explained to British Magazine Star the problems that groupies can bring to the boys' status, "Of course they attract massive attention and have a lot of opportunity to hook up with girls, but their management really want them to be on their best behaviour."

"[One Direction has] been told jokingly to keep it in their pants - but here is a serious message there, too. The last thing anyone wants is for One Direction to be accused of taking advantage of fans, or being labeled as sleazebags," the source continued.

Zayn and Harry have been particularly in the public spotlight regarding their love lives recently.

Zayn has recently been linked to an Australian waitress who claimed Zayn cheated on his girlfriend with her.

Harry has been publically linked to Taylor Swift, and is frequently spotted with different women. After those high-profile relationships and scandals, it seems the boys' management team would like to minimize romantic gossip.

The insider continued, "The guys are young and in the prime of their lives, but the feeling is that they really need to be careful."

"They are going to be away from home for a long time, and probably feeling homesick in strange cities. But they will be chaperoned at all times and there will be maximum security to ensure there is no funny business," the insider reported, according to Cover Media.
