Legos Spill On Highway I-79 In West Virginia, Stopping Traffic And Upsetting 11-Year-Old Lego Owner [PHOTO]

Legos spilled on a highway in West Virginia on Sunday, March 3, stopping traffic for an hour.

One lane of the highway Interstate 79 was closed down on Sunday due to the Lego spill. The bricks spread across the highway, causing a potential risk to vehicles.

Although Legos are not sharp enough to puncture a tire, the plastic bricks could become slippery, especially given the damp, cold conditions on the highway at the time.

WDTV in Clarksburg reported that cleanup crews were deployed to sweep up the colorful plastic pieces.

WDTV announced, "Around 5:15 Sunday afternoon, there was a roadway obstruction of Lego blocks on I-79 around mile marker 117 in Harrison County. Traffic was down to one lane until crews could clean up the mess."

West Virginia firefighter Eric McClain was on the scene of the Lego spill to photograph the incident and help with cleanup, according to CNET.

Facebook commenters helped to fill in the story's details.

They claimed that the wreck didn't involve a Lego transport truck, but that a few larger containers full of Legos fell off a passenger car, probably disappointing the children inside to whom the Legos belonged.

Facebook user Tiffany Lantz took responsibility, saying, "Those Legos belonged to my 11 yr old son they were in totes strapped to the top of the Durango they fell off strap became loose he cried it seemed like forever but I tried to recover as many as I could cause I don't have the money to buy him anymore."

She continued to apologize to the drivers that the Lego spill stuck in traffic.

Another Facebook user said, "There is some little boy who will be very upst when they get to their destination to find his Legos gone!" and went on to describe the Lego spill as 'epic.'
