South by Southwest (SXSW) is set to begin on Friday, March 8, in Austin, Texas.

The ten day of events is a set of film, interactive and music festivals.

Thousands of bands come out to try and woo the fans and garner a bigger fan base for themselves. Bands have been doing this for events' 26 years prior.

Beginning in 1987, SXSW has focused on newer, original talents. The company has grown and produces conferences, trade shows and festivals ever year.  

The music has helped the fan base of SXSW grow each year. "By day, thousands of conference registrants network in the halls of the Austin Convention Center on their way to do business in the SXSW® Trade Show, sit in on informative panel discussions featuring some of the industry's key players, gain insight from legendary keynote speakers or plan out their abundant party schedules. At night, SXSW showcases hundreds upon hundreds of musical acts from around the globe on over one hundred stages in downtown Austin. All this and so much more, combine to make SXSW one of the most revered music events, year after year," the company's website states.

SXSW gives the fans an interaction with the artist who has already cemented their names in music history. The "torch" is somewhat passed at night when one hundred stages fill with aspiring bands and musicians.

The film industry is always changing and SXSW says it wants to help provide an outlet for the change to heard and viewed.

"Every March, creatives of all stripes gather in Austin to witness, share and inspire the visions that will galvanize the filmmakers and ideas of tomorrow. SXSW® Film Conference & Festival champions the vitality, innovation and opportunity that drives the entertainment and media landscape, and boldly tackles the evolution of all aspects of "film" today, down to its very definition," SXSW.com states about the film aspect of the ten-day event.

In including film in the festival, the organizers hope to give fans in attendance an opportunity to learn about the future of the medium.

But the festival doesn't stop with music and film. SXSW dedicated a week to more interaction, calling it SXSW Interactive.

"The SXSW Interactive Festival will take place March 8-12, 2013 in Austin, Texas.
