Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.1 Update Features Smart Scrolling, Smart Pause Like New Galaxy S4 According To Leaked Screenshots; Expect Confirmation March 14

The Samsung Galaxy S3 will get some of the new Samsung Galaxy S4 features in a new Android 4.2 Update, like Smart Scroll and Smart Pause, according to new leaked screenshots.

New screenshots from a leaked Samsung Galaxy S3 Android version 4.2.1 update show new Samsung Smart features. Samsung will likely announce those features on stage with the Samsung Galaxy S4 at its March 14 event.

Insiders shared screenshots of the new Samsung Smart scroll feature for the Samsung Galaxy S4, and sources confirmed the existence of the new features to the NY Times.

The leaked screenshots were posted on SamMobile. They initially appeared to be from the Samsung Galaxy S4, but the shots were reportedly taken from the Samsung Galaxy S3 with a leaked Android 4.2.1 update installed.

The screenshots show some details about the Smart scroll feature and the Smart pause feature. Smart scroll will allow users to scroll on the screen with their eyes and face. Smart pause can pause a video if the phone detects that the user looks away.

The new Smart features appear to be an expansion of the 'Smart' functionality that Samsung introduced last year, like the 'Smart Stay' feature that prevents the device's screen from locking when a user is looking at it.

Based on the leaked screenshots, Smart scroll will be enabled for a range of applications. The ability to select specific applications to use with Smart scroll may, however, mean that not all applications can support the feature.

The screenshot shows support for Samsung's Internet browser in addition to Chrome. The Smart scroll feature also reportedly supports Gmail.

The screenshots also show a way of adjusting the speed of the scrolling.

The motion sensor and/or camera will therefore be able to use vertical head movements to determine how fast to scroll.
