Charlize Theron To Launch New Denim Line Following TOMS Collab Benefiting Impoverished African Children; Mad Max Filming Destroys Namibian Park

South African actress Charlize Theron is working with her stylist, Leslie Fremar, to design a new denim line, to be called 'Theron Jeans'.

Theron and Fremar are planning to mass-market the collection for major retailers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This venture isn't 37-year-old Charlize Theron's first into the fashion world; she has already developed an eco-friendly line of footwear with TOMS brand of shoes.

The proceeds of her shoe brand support her non-profit charity, the 'Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project', which aids impoverished children in South Africa.

Theron said about her collaboration with TOMS footwear, "We have very similar philosophies and I think, you know, I think our passion lies with youth and I think when we got together that we saw great opportunity to enhance each other's dreams of change in a way that might not have been able to happen if we didn't partner."

After her success with TOMS, Charlize Theron is launching her denim collection, although her representative hasn't yet confirmed the rumor.

Despite her environmental and humanitarian efforts, Theron has recently been thrown into an environmental controversy while filming the latest Mad Max action thriller installment in Namibia.

The film crew of Mad Max has reportedly damaged parts of the sensitive eco-system of the Dorob National Park while filming, according to The South African.

Parts of the national park are thought to be more than 50 million years old.

A leaked report detailing the impact on filming on Namibia's ecosystem explains that endangered reptiles and rare cacti have suffered the most under the filming of Mad Max.

In the film Mad Max: Fury Road, Theron plays Imperator Furiosa.

Charlize Theron is widely considered a humanitarian and supporter of environmental preservation, so the controversy surrounding the film crew's destruction of the park came as a shock to many.

The film will be released in 2014, and will star Tom Hardy and Zoe Kravitz in addition to Theron.
