2 Dead In Police Standoff in Watts: Los Angeles Shooter Kills Man, Turns Gun On Himself With 3 Kids In The House

Two people are dead following a 2-hour police standoff at a Watts, Los Angeles  home that began Friday morning at 3 a.m., according to local talk radio station KABC.

The gunman allegedly shot a man in a truck outside the house that later died.

He then fired at police during the 2-hour standoff before turning the gun on himself. The AP reports there were three children in the house at the time.

At one point in the police standoff that left two men dead, a three-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy came running out of the house, Cmdr. Andy Smith told City News Service.

The children reportedly told police "mom and dad" are dead.

A woman believed to be the gunman's wife was taken to the hospital in grave condition, according to Deputy Chief Robert Green. The chief reports they initially thought she was another casualty of the standoff.

A 1-year-old boy was found in the home following the two deaths.

Police took all three children into custody.

"They'll be in our custody until we identify relatives," Green told the AP.

No officers were reported injured in the police standoff that left two dead.

The names of the dead were not immediately released.
