Rick Springfield Arrested, Updates Facebook Page From Police Station

Rick Springfield was arrested Friday in Los Angeles for missing his court date for a hearing in relation to his 2011 DUI conviction.

Police went to Rick's L.A. home Friday morning to execute the warrant, said a representative for the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. However, before the "Jessie's Girl" singer was booked, his attorney had already gotten the warrant recalled. Rick Springfield was then released.

While still at the police station, he updated his Facebook page. The singer explained to his fans that the incident was a mix-up.

He writes, "I didn't know that I was supposed appear in court a few weeks ago. It was to do with the old DUI charge and it's been cleared up and I am free to go."

Later, Rick Springfield also posted a photo of the Lost Hills sheriff's station in Malibu where he was taken after his arrest.

The warrant was issued by the court on Wednesday. It was in relation to the failure of Rick Springfield to appear in court a few weeks ago.

A court representative said that at that time Springfield was supposed present the judge with proof he had completed an alcohol education program. The court-ordered program was one of the conditions of a plea agreement the singer made prosecutors two years ago to avoid a serving time in jail.

When Rick Springfield failed to appear at the courthouse, the bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police arrived at the singer's Los Angeles home on Friday to arrest him and he was taken into custody.

Although the bench warrant was dismissed, Rick Springfield has been ordered to pay $1,555 in fines, according to reports.

Rick Springfield is an Grammy Award-winning Australian singer-songwriter who also appeared on the daytime soap opera, General Hospital.

He was arrested in 2011 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
