Agent Missing 6 Years in Iran, FBI Committed to Bring Robert Levinson Home Safely

The FBI stated on Thursday they are committed on bringing the retired agent Robert Levinson, missing 6 years in Iran "home safely to his family."

"One year ago, we offered a $1 million reward for information leading to his safe return," Deputy Director Sean Joyce said in a statement about Levinson, of Coral Springs. "That reward still remains unclaimed, and I again encourage anyone with information about Bob's disappearance to contact us."

Levinson spent more than two decades in the Bureau before retiring in 1998 then later disappeared when he traveled to Iranian island of Kish as a private investigator on March 8, 2007.

As Saturday marks the sixth year of Levinson's disappearance and turns 65, on Sunday.

"We still are hoping that we can get him home any day now," his wife, Christine Levinson, told NBC 6 on Thursday. "We have no information about him, but we keep taking it one day at a time and hoping today will be the day that he is home."

The Levinson family met with the FBI and State Department on Thursday about the case however one member of the family told ABC News, "There is no news, unfortunately."

There were five photographs of Levinson released in January by his family, which shows him apparently wrapped in chain around his hands, wearing an orange jump suit with a sign that reads, "Help Me."

Authorities have not public identified Levinson's suspected captors as they might know, however the U.S. government repeatedly asked the Iranian government's help in finding him.

"A husband and father to seven children, Mr. Levinson has missed birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and other important milestones since his disappearance six years ago from Iran's Kish Island," Secretary of State John Kerry said.

The FBI asks anyone with information on Robert Levinson to contact them here. Information will be kept confidential and can be shared anonymously, the agency says.
