TVXQ Japan Album 'TIME' Sells 200,000 Copies in 1 Week, 'Record Breaking'

Group TVXQ ranked number 1 on the Japan Oricon Weekly Album Chart.

TVXQ released their new album, TIME, on March 6 and received an overwhelming response. They ranked number 1 not only on the daily, but also the weekly Oricon chart. 

Their previous albums, 'BEST SELECTION 2010' and 'TONE' also ranked number 1, making this their 3rd time making it to the top of the weekly album chart.

Their 'BEST SELECTION 2010' album was the highest record for first day sales, selling 228,542 copies.

This new album sold over 200,000 copies in just the first week, breaking a new record. 

This album was released in 3 different versions for the past, present and future. They sold 160,719 copies on the first day, showing it's amazing popularity.

Today, the Oricon news page stated, "Having 2 albums sell over 200,000 copies in a row in just one week was last seen 5 years ago by Avril Lavigne. TVXQ has broken the record."

TVXQ has also ranked number 1 a total of 12 times o the Oricon Weekly Single Chart as well. They are also the only foreign artist to rank number 1 this many times on the Oricon chart. 

This proves TVXQ's immense popularity in Japan.

TVXQ will also be starting their Japan 5 dome tour on April 27, starting at the Saitama Super Arena. They will be the first Korean artist and 4th international artist to hold this tour. They will continue o to the Osaka Kyocera Dome, Hukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome, Sapporo Dome and Nagoya Dome. They anticipate around 700,000 fans to attend this tour.

TVXQ debuted in 2003 under SM Entertainment. In 2009, the group became two members and took a 2 year and 3 month hiatus from the industry. They finally made a comeback as a duo.

They are known as the 'Kings of K-Pop' as they have made many record breaking and chart topping hits. They have a wide fan base all around Asia as well as the rest of the world.
