Kelsey Grammer: Windmills Were A Big Mistake

Kelsey Grammer was stopped on the street and asked about the worst investment he ever made. The answer? Windmills.

Kelsey Grammer was recently asked by TMZ, "What is the most expensive mistake you have ever made?"

The Fraiser star thought about it momentarily, then gave a rather shocking answer: windmills.

According to the 58-year-old actor, he invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in wind technology and the business venture proved to be a flop.

He said he thought the investment would be lucrative, but when it failed, he lost a lot of money.

Kelsey Grammer replied honestly to the reporter, ''Investing in windmills. You'd think it would be lucrative, but it's not really a friendly environment for new technology, it really isn't."

He went on to add, ''Big wind is doing OK but small wind isn't and it cost me a lot of money."

While Grammer would not reveal the exact amount, he did say the number was shockingly high and reported, "It's got six figures.''

Kelsey is far from the poorhouse, however. He says his finances are still okay, but did admit that there was no hope of recovering the original investment.

He added, ''I'm okay, but I didn't make up for it, it's one of those things that's just a straight loss.''

But blowing money on windmills is not the only thing hurting Grammar's bank book.

He recently was forced to significantly lower the asking price for his Beverly Hills mansion from $18.9 million to just under $15 million.

The house, which Grammer used to share with his ex-wife Camille, has been on the market since 2008 and still has not had any interested buyers.

Kelsey Grammer has extensively remodeled the property since he originally bought it in 2007, but there are currently no windmills on the property.
