Ed Asner Hospitalized After Concerning On-Stage Behavior

Ed Asner was hospitalized on Tuesday for strange behavior on stage during a performance.

Ed Asner was taken to a hospital near Gary, Indiana yesterday after he suffered from a medical emergency during one-man show.

The 83-year-old actor was not but 15 minutes into his play "FDR" when crew members noticed the actor was struggling with his lines. Ed Asner was then escorted off stage and hospitalized.

The Sun Times reported Asner put in an ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital for medical tests and treatment.

Doctors are still do not know what caused the legendary actor to become disoriented and forget his lines.

Asner's son Matt spoke with TMZ early Wednesday and said, "My dad is doing fine. He was rushed to the hospital yesterday for being disoriented on stage."

He also confirmed that the actor had not suffered a stroke as originally thought.

"He is being assessed right now and what I can say is that it was not a stroke. That much we do know," Matt Asner said.

Ed Asner is still in the Indiana hospital being monitored by doctors.

"He is resting now at an Indiana hospital and is doing well and very grumpy, which with him is always a good thing," the actor's son commented.

He further noted that Ed Asner "was feeling under the weather for a few weeks so he may just need some rest but for now he is just fine."

Asner is an Emmy-award-winning actor. He received honors for his roles in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and the spin-off show, "Lou Grant."

He was also once the president of the Screen Actors Guild.

Ed Asner is still hospitalized for what appears to be exhaustion. He is currently resting at the Chicago-area hospital, but his rep says the actor is expected to be released sometime on Wednesday.
