Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss have been best of friends for the past two years which means that birthday greetings are normal. However, the "Blank Space" songstress earned criticisms from fans when she uploaded a "birthday photo" of the model who turned 23 yesterday.

The photo earned ire because instead of completely focusing on the Victoria's Secret model, the photo's subject seemed to be Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Calvin Harris. In the said photo, the DJ is at the center whereas a smiling Karlie Kloss is cooking in the background.

The photo's caption read: "Some of my best times are with her, laughing in the kitchen. Happy Birthday to the ray of light that is @karlieloss!"

Instagram user @miss_bessita remarked, "Weird that the bday girl is in the background, she just had to show off bae."

Meanwhile, @aaliyakhanum didn't see the importance of including Taylor Swift's boyfriend in the photo saying, "You didn't have to put Calvin in the picture. Its Karlie's birthday, not Calvin's."

Some fans even joked that Karlie Kloss should be in the photo too when Calvin Harris celebrates his birthday. Fans think that the "Styles" singer did a better job last year when she posted a solo photo of her friend for her 22^nd birthday. She described her friend then as a person "who is made out of 100% sunshine."

Nonetheless, the controversial photo won't change the fact that Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss remain close after meeting at the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Their closeness even led to dating rumors.

As per one of Ok! magazine's insider, Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss were secretly dating.

"Taylor and Karlie had chemistry from the moment they met. And while Taylor had never been attracted to women before, she quickly developed feelings for Karlie," the source said.

The rumors were never confirmed and for her 25^th birthday, the "Out of the Woods" singer wished that media would stop accusing her of dating her friends.
