Zayn Malik's solo album might soon be released following the 22-year-old's signing of a record deal with RCA Records. Amid the speculations that there is bad blood between him and the remaining One Direction members, Liam Payne finally broke his silence.

In an interview with Magic Radio, Liam Payne said that he understands his former bandmate because Zayn Malik wasn't really into One Direction's type of songs.

He said, "One Direction was never Zayn's sort of music so he kind of always wanted to find something else."

"If your heart's not into something, you can't just carry on doing it because of fame and stuff. You have to go and do what you want to do," he continued.

For fans who are insisting that Zayn Malik's solo album will cause tension between him and the remaining 1D members, Sophia Smith's boyfriend told the radio station that "there's too much history for there not to be love."

He went on to say that he is excited to hear Zayn Malik's solo album.

"He's got a great voice and he's a very talented young man and we wish him all the best of luck."

Zayn Malik, on the other hand, also remains supportive of the One Direction boys. When the group released their new single "Drag Me Down," the Bradford-born singer remarked on Twitter that he's proud of his former bandmates.

Zayn Malik chose to leave the renowned group last March in the middle of their "On the Road Again" tour because he allegedly wants to be a normal lad. Reports surfaced that the constant touring left him exhausted.

But on July 29, he revealed why he left the band.

He wrote on his Twitter account: "I guess I never explained why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA!!"
