Meryl Streep tagged along her daughter, Mamie Gummer, to the red carpet premiere of "Ricki and the Flash" at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater.

"Ricki and the Flash" tells the story of a mother of three who left behind her family to pursue a rock-and-roll career.

"In a film loaded with music and live performance, Streep stars as Ricki, a guitar heroine who gave up everything for her dream of rock-and-roll stardom, but is now returning home to make things right with her family," the synopsis said.

"Streep stars opposite her real-life daughter Mamie Gummer, who plays her fictional daughter; Rick Springfield, who takes on the role of a Flash member in love with Ricki; and Kevin Kline, who portrays Ricki's long-suffering ex-husband." 

And as always, the legendary actress impressed on her latest film.

Leah Greenblatt wrote in her review of "Ricki and the Flash," for Entertainment Weekly, "Of all the parts Meryl Streep has played on screen-nun, nuclear activist, pill-popping matriarch, Prada-clad editrix-she's never been credited as a magician."

"But that's essentially what she does in every film she appears in: sprinkle the pixie dust of her ineffable Streep-ness over even the most banal scripts and underwritten roles."

She said that only thing that saved "Ricki and the Flash," which she described matter-of-factly as not a great movie, is the performance of Meryl Streep herself.

"She commits utterly to Ricki, an aging free spirit attempting to reconnect with her three adult children years after leaving them behind to pursue rock stardom," Greenblatt said of Meryl Streep.

For the red carpet premiere of "Ricki and the Flash," Meryl Streep wore a "monochrome frock with pleated skirt and matching black and white heels. She glitzed up the look with jeweled hoop earrings and carried a small box clutch," said Daily Mail.

Her daughter, Mamie Gummer, wore a black dress which she paired with a peach skirt. "She teamed it with strappy black sandals and pinned her fair locks in a sophisticated chignon," the British tabloid added.
