Lindsey Vonn Wins Sixth World Cup Downhill Title Without Racing

Lindsey Vonn wins a record sixth straight World Cup downhill title Wednesday as the final races of the season were canceled due to fog.

International Ski Federation officials were forced to call off the World Cup Finals for men's and women's downhill in Switzerland, allowing Vonn to retain her title - by one point over Tina Maze of Slovenia.

Vonn won three of the seven World Cup downhill this season however ended up missing two others due to season-ending knee injury at the World Championships in February during the women's super-G event.

The injured Vonn receives the title without even racing or having to show up on the mountain.

"Omg I won the World Cup Downhill title!!!!! 6 in a row with a bum knee! Everything in life comes back around," Vonn wrote on her Twitter.

Two years ago, Vonn lost the four-times overall World Cup champion by similar weather conditions in Lenzerheide. She lost by three points to her good friend Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany.

"Everything in life comes back around. #believe #karma #onelegvictorydance,'' wrote Vonn, whose run of downhill titles is a record in the 47 seasons of men's and women's World Cup racing.

Maze, who already won the overall title with a record point total, wrote on Twitter, "I guess the DH globe belongs to someone else, Congratulation Lindsey! What goes around comes around!"

"Congrats to lindseyvonn for the dh globe! Now you know how I felt 2 years ago,'' Hoefl-Riesch wrote.
