Burglary Suspect is Apprehended During High Speed Chase on North Texas Freeway

A burglary suspect has been arrested after a high speed chase along Texas's North Freeway Thursday morning, reported Fox News Houston.

"The Houston Police Department said an officer tried to stop a white sedan on Crosstimbers near Oxford shortly before 9 a.m,"  according to Texas news station KHOU.  "The driver refused to pull over, running red lights, and speeding while trying to get away from police."

Bellaire police said the officer tried to pull the driver over because his car matched the description of the vehicle used in a home burglary Wednesday afternoon in Bellaire, reported the Houston Chronicle.

"The chase started just before 9 a.m. on Thursday at New Castle near Bissonnett by Bellaire Police. At one point the suspect got on the Pierce Elevated heading the wrong way. Houston Police were quickly brought in to help with the chase," reported Fox News Houston.

The chase ended in the 8400 block of the North Freeway when the suspect motioned to the police through the open window of his SUV that he was surrendering, the publication added.

Bellaire police recovered several items stolen during Wednesday's home burglary in the car, said The Houston Chronicle.

The name of the suspect is not being released at this time.
