'The Notebook' TV Series In The Works; New Cast To Fill In Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling's Big Shoes?

One of the most famed love stories of all time is heading to CW as Nicholas Sparks is developing "The Notebook" into a TV series.

Entertainment Weekly first reported the news about "The Notebook" TV series.

The story description reads, "This series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie, at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina."

CW president Mark Pedowitz also confirmed "The Notebook" TV series when he talked to reporters during the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, California recently. He also teased that it's not going to follow the 2004 movie's format where an old couple reminisce about their past.

He said, "I don't believe we're going to see the older couple-what they become. But things change [in development]. I'm thrilled Nick Sparks wanted to do it at The CW."

Pedowitz added, per The Hollywood Reporter, "The Notebook is a very well-received book and motion picture. It is going to be set after World War II. At this point, the pilot is not done."

Nicholas Sparks will executive produce "The Notebook" TV series, along with Theresa Spark, but the screenplay will be written by Todd Graff.

Celebrity Dirty Laundry noted that the demographic of CW is usually young adults and "vampire fanatics" so "The Notebook" TV series "is a bit out of their comfort zone."

It added, "But, seriously is there anything that Nicholas Sparks touches that doesn't turn to gold? The question is, who will they cast to play the parts of Noah and Allie, and will they be able to fill Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams' shoes?"
