After his shocking exit from "Grey's Anatomy," Patrick Dempsey briefly returned to TV by appearing on an episode from "Car Matchmaker," which is hosted by Spike Feresten, formerly of "Seinfeld."

The "Car Matchmaker" has Spike Feresten choosing the right kind of vehicle for the episode's guest, this time with Patrick Dempsey, based on the budget, preferences and even the character of the guest.

"The Grey's Anatomy alum and racing aficionado zooms around a track at high speed - all while remaining cool and calm as Dr. Derek Shepherd in the OR," said People.

Shonda Rhimes generated a lot of criticisms from McDreamy fans when she decided to kill off Patrick Dempsey's character on "Grey's Anatomy." There were also various rumors coming from the woodworks that the real reason for his exit was because of the brewing tension between the actor and the creator.

There's also another rumor that he was dating one of the staff while being married to his wife, prior to their split.

Shonda Rhimes explained of Patrick Dempsey's exit from "Grey's Anatomy," "I really couldn't have the idea that he turned out to be a bad guy and walked out on his wife and kids. Derek had to die so that his love for Meredith could remain true and frozen in time."

But there's another rumor that Patrick Dempsey himself quit "Grey's Anatomy" so he could concentrate on racing cars.

The actor is actually quite good behind the wheel and he placed second on the prestigious LeMans 24 Hours in France in June this year by driving a Porsche 911 RSR.

He said after the win, "To be up there is definitely a dream come true. It's hard to put into words what this means."

"The team did a great job in all the pit stops, and Patrick and Marco just drove beautifully through the whole race and into the night when it was really tough," he continued, referring to teammates Patrick Long and Marco Seefried.
