Ellen Page Gets Into Debate With Ted Cruz Over LGBT Rights; Tells Senator 'You're Discriminating'

Ellen Page, Shailene Woodley's once rumored girlfriend, engaged presidential hopeful Ted Cruz in a debate over LGBT rights during the Iowa State Fair, Friday.

All throughout, the senator was grilling pork chops.

According to ABC News, Ellen Page asked Ted Cruz about his views about the persecution of homosexuals in the workplace as well as the rights of the LGBT.

Shailene Woodley's once rumored girlfriend asked, "What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay-trans?"

The presidential hopeful replied, "Well, what we're seeing right now, we're seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith."

"You're discriminating against LGBT people. Well, would you use that argument in segregation?" Shailene Woodley's once rumored girlfriend chimed in.

But Ted Cruz warned that he's not there to engage any of the attendees in a debate, but he will answer the question.

"No one has the right to force someone else to abandon their faith and their conscience," he said. "Imagine, hypothetically, you had a gay florist and imagine two evangelicals wanted to get married and they decide, 'You know what, I disagree with your faith and I don't want to provide flowers.'"

ABC News said that Ted Cruz didn't know he was talking to LGBT advocate Ellen Page, who really tried to remain anonymous by wearing a bull cap, dark sunglasses and backpack.

"A lot of religious people also used the Bible to defend segregation, to defend slavery," Page said, as reported by CNN. "I think religious freedom is so important and so crucial for all religions. LGBT people are worried they will directly be discriminated against."

A rep for Shailene Woodley's previously rumored girlfriend told THR that it's part of Ellen Page's new show for Vice Media titled "Gaycation with Ellen Page."

"Her confrontation with the GOP political candidate is planned to be part of that series," it said. "The show was shot in different cities around the world and is now making its way to the U.S. "
