Emilia Clarke's ‘Terminator: Genisys’ Opens Big In China! 'Game of Thrones' Star Vindicated?

Emilia Clarke and Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as the rest of the cast and crew of "Terminator: Genisys" may have just been vindicated after the movie that was dubbed a summer flop opened big in China.

In a report on Variety, the movie opened on Sunday and earned a whopping $27.4 million at once. The box office opening in China added to the worldwide total earnings of Paramount and Skydance's movie -- raising it to $335.1 million.

When the movie opened on the Fourth of July weekend in the US, it only earned $27.5 million in a period of three days as reported by Forbes. The report further said that the flop of the movie may have been caused as well by bad marketing, terrible reviews, its PG-13 rating as well as the audience preference nowadays of wanting new movies and concepts.

The flop even suggested that a sequel for the film may not be happening unless it rakes more earnings globally as told by a source to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rumors circulated though that executives of the companies behind the "Terminator: Genisys" were pointing at Emilia Clarke as the purported reason for the flop.

As reported by Dish Nation last week, the "Game of Thrones" actress' acting chops was put under the spotlight. The rumors also said the actress has reportedly been dropped from a possible sequel due to the US flop.

"Sadly her acting ability has been called into question and has in part been blamed for the film's flop," an insider revealed to the source above. "Of course it's not all her fault, but they basically don't want her back. They're saying she doesn't have the star power they thought she did."

"It's a shame because the role could have really cemented her place in Hollywood," the insider added. "But instead it's put a downer on it."

But with the box office opening in China, there's no telling now what the future holds for Emilia Clarke's place in a possible "Terminator: Genisys" sequel.
