Big Bang's G-Dragon Discusses The Group's Early Awkward Look: 'Our Visual Was Bad' Boy Band Singer Says

Big Bang's G-Dragon talked about his band's struggle to get their visual image together last week in a March 22 interview on the program "Thank You."

"When we first came out as Big Bang, the public commented that our visual [look] was bad even though we are supposed to be idols," G-Dragon said. "But I was okay with that because I already heard that so many times from our CEO [Yang Hyun-suk], so I was already used to it!"

The K-pop star said it wasn't until additional Big Bang bandmembers Daesung, T.O.P, and Seungri joined the group, that their image started to gel he said.

However G-Dragon said, he didn't realize that the additional three bandmembers were an asset to Big Bang right away.

"When I first saw Daesung, I was extremely surprised," G-Dragon said. "When I saw T.O.P, I thought, 'Why is he with us?' Then I saw Seungri and thought again, 'and him also, why is he with us?'"

In the end, G-Dragon, who had originally thought Big Bang was going to be a hip hop duo with other founding member Taeyang, warmed up to his new bandmates.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

The Big Bang singer also opened up in the interview about his admiration and respect for YG Entertainment CEO and former Seo Taiji and Boys bandmember Yang Hyun-suk.

In addition to Big Bang, YG Entertainment is also the label for international K-Pop sensation Psy.

G-Dragon called label boss Yang Hyun-suk his "best partner in life."

"Even though he will intensely criticize me to my face, he always supports me from the back," the Big Bang bandmember said. "I think that's how I was able to become who I am now...if I do something wrong, he criticizes me. But he always praises me from the back. When I get praised by him after I get criticized, I receive even more strength."

The K-Pop icon even opened up about his love of ballet.

"During my school days, I attended a performing arts middle and high school," G-Dragon said. "The female students who majored in dancing and ballet looked pretty in my eyes."

Ballerina Kang Soo Jin, who was sitting next to G-Dragon during the "Thank You" interview, smiled at the Big Bang singer's comment.

"I want to have a daughter," he added. "And if I were to have a daughter, I would like it if she learned ballet."
