The rumors about Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger getting a divorce has been confirmed to be true after the "Complicated" singer announced their split through social media.

"It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today," Avril Lavigne wrote on her Instagram account, with an accompanying photo showing them dancing on their wedding day.

But Avril Lavigne said that despite her divorce with Chad Kroeger, they will remain as friends, The Hollywood Life reported.

"Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you for your support."

It has been a tough year for the Canadian rocker as she has been battling Lyme disease these past months after she was diagnosed with the illness last year. Earlier, she debunked rumors about getting a divorce from Chad Kroeger as Avril Lavigne claimed he was with her while she faced the challenges of the autoimmune disease.

Before Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger's divorce announcement, the Nickelback frontman was seen hanging out in a night club in Miami with a mystery girl, People reported.

"Chad and the woman had a VIP table in the club's party pit," an insider told the publication. "They ordered a bottle of Belvedere vodka for themselves. They were very much into each other and did not mingle with the crowd."

The Nickelback frontman was also seen without his wedding ring, E! Online said.

Previously, the frontman opened up about one of their marriage rules when it comes to drinking.

"We don't want to go anywhere that you're asking for trouble," Chad Kroeger said. "[And] we don't drink alcohol when we are apart."

Prior to their divorce, Avril Lavigne was married to Chad Kroeger for almost two years after they tied the knot last 2013 in France. The Nickelback frontman even gifted the "Hello Kitty" hit maker with a 17-carat diamond ring for their first year anniversary.
