2PM Attempts Back-To-Back Victories For Best Group At Japan's Video Music Awards: TVXQ, Big Bang Also Make List Of MTV's 2013 VMA Nominees

K-pop sensation 2PM has been once again nominated for the 2013 Video Music Award (VMA) for Best Album of the Year, MTV announced on Thursday.

Last year 2PM won the VMA in the same category, meaning this year they will be going for a back-to-back victory.

"We want to give this honor to those who love 2PM and "I′m Your Man," the band said through Japanese and English translators after receiving the Best Album of the Year award last year. "We thank you so much. We′ll become a group that works harder."

Apparently, the band delivered on their promise.

The album, "Legend of 2PM," that is nominated for this year's VMA, sold over 100,000 copies in the first two days, according to CJ E&M enewsWorld.  The single "Beautiful" is a certified Gold Record according to the Recording Industry Association of Japan

But 2PM wasn't the only K-Pop artist to make the list of 2013 VMA Japan nominees.

Big Bang was nominated for the Best Dance Video Award for "Fantastic Baby." The song was the second most popular Japanese video on YouTube last year. They will face off against group_inou, Megumi Nakajima, Skrillex and Jed.

TVXQ′s song "Catch Me" was nominated for Best Group Video.

Japan's 2013 VMAs will be held on June 22.

All three of the K-Pop nominees up for VMAs this year have had a major touring presence in Japan.

On April 20 and 21, K-Pop stars 2PM will hold a concert at the Tokyo Dome, the same venue where Big Bang played a sold out show to 55,000 fans in December.

Big Bang band member Seungri called the performance the realization of a life's dream.

"Three years ago we held a concert with 2,000 nearby here at the Tokyo JCB Hall but now we are here performing at the Tokyo Dome," the Big Bang singer said the day of the December 5 show. "Our dreams have become reality. Today is a memorable day for Big Bang and its fans."

The venue has become a popular performance spot for K-Pop artists, this week JYJ are holding their three-day "Return of JYJ" at the Tokyo Dome. The shows mark the band's return from a four-year hiatus.

TVXQ is launching a five-dome tour of Japan on April 27.

The duo has been on tour in China recently, playing for 10,000 fans in Beijing on Saturday.

Fans reportedly waved red light sticks throughout the concert while singing along and calling out Korean fan chants.
