Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth may have been over for two years now but the singer reportedly is still hung up on her ex-fiancé.

In an interview for the cover story of Elle UK for October, the "Wrecking Ball" singer said they remain close despite splitting. She even fueled rumors after stating in the present tense that they still love one another.

"Me and Liam are still so close and we love each other, and they make it like there is negativity," she told the magazine as quoted by Mirror.

Last year, Liam Hemsworth also admitted to Nylon Guys that he's got a good relationship with Miley Cyrus after their breakup.

"There's not much to say; there's no bad blood there," he was quoted in saying by E! Online. 

It was not clear though if reconciliation was in the horizon for the ex-engaged couple. Just last April, it was also rumored that they may be rekindling their romance as told by Extra after being spotted together in Los Angeles.

They did not address the rumors and Hemsworth was even linked to Maika Monroe last July.  

Cyrus, on the other hand, was linked to Victoria Secret model Stella Maxwell and has been caught on video making out. But the "Wrecking Ball" singer insisted in the Elle UK interview that they were just friends.

"Stella is awesome, but as soon as you hang out with someone, you get labelled as in a relationship," she pointed out. "And I'm like, you can't just assume everyone I'm sitting at dinner with is a date."

"But I'm not in a relationship," she also said. "I'm 22, I'm going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I'm with."

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth met on "The Last Song" as mentioned in a report on Hollywood Life. They got engaged in 2012 but called it off a year later.
