‘Jumanji 2’ Movie Plot To Be Reimagined For The Present Time? Fans Disappointed With Remake

A "Jumanji 2" remake is about to happen and fans aren't happy as to what the studio have in store for the plot of the movie.

In an article by Hollywood Reporter, Columbia Pictures president Douglas Belgrad revealed that they have plans on a remake of the film, putting his words as "reimagining the film to the present time."

"Michael has created a bit of a mandate to do more in the family space," Belgrad explained, while talking about his bosses Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton. "It involves animation [which Belgrad doesn't oversee], hybrid and live action. Michael's impact on the studio is great; he helped reel in The Smurfs property. We're going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present."

The "re-imagination" that would give "Jumanji 2" movie a similar plot had fans react, claiming how the studio should've left the first film as it is, as reported by CNN and Movie Pilot.

"I really don't want that Jumanji remake," fan Krista Jenkins said. "Probably because I feel it's too soon after Robin William's death and that's one of my favs."

"It's #official," Kevin Grant ranted. "#Hollywood has run out of ideas. They are remaking #Jumanji ... which is a damned shame and a travesty. #RobinWilliams"

In addition that "Jumanji 2" movie would have a plot similar to the original film, Huffington Post pointed out how difficult it would be for Sony Pictures to follow up to an incredible performance by Robin Williams.

Furthermore, Sony Pictures also revealed the list of movies they have until 2019, which shows the "Jumanji" movie sequel has already been given a release date.

According to the report, the remake is already set on Dec. 25, 2019, while other remakes and follow-ups have also been scheduled. Included in the list are "Ghostbusters," "Underworld," "Resident Evil" and "Bad Boys," among others.
