'Gangnam Style' Is The Perfect Song For Your Workout, Research Says

Earlier this week, an article was published in the Wall Street Journal about finding the best music for your workout - Psy's "Gangnam Style" was named as a song with the optimal tempo for exercising.

According to the author Sumathi Reddy, when a person listens to the music at the right tempo during a workout, it has the ability to increase stamina, stave off exhaustion, and even boost your morale.

Research has found that songs with 125 to 140 beats per minute are perfect for working out. The original theory was tested over the course of several different studies involving runners, treadmill walkers, and swimmers and the results were clear across the board. Music, particulary the right music, can drastically enhance physical performance.

Reddy also went as far as to list songs that would be appropriate for anyone to add to their workout mix. At the top of the list were popular tunes "Gangnam Style," "Beat It" by Michael Jackson, and Lady Gaga's "Edge of Glory."

As an added bonus, dancing along with Psy's horse dance is a workout in it of itself.
