Psy's Gangnam Style Reaches 1.5 Billion Youtube Views, Breaks Several Records...Again

On Saturday afternoon, 'Gangnam Style,' after already breaking a record 1.4 billion Youtube views just last month on March 10th, has broken another new record with over 1.5 billion views.

Within about 50 days of being made public last year on July 15, the music video on September 4th became the first of its kind - containing 'Korean content' - to have 100 million views. The video continued to gain hits, reaching 500 million on October 20.

On November 24, PSY's 'Gangnam Style' with over 800 million views beat out Justin Bieber's music video for 'Baby' and became number 1 on Youtube as the most-watched video. On December 22, 'Gangnam Style' became the first video on youtube to reach an all-time high of 1 billion views.

Gangnam Style' broke other records as well, topping the British music chart, The Official Charts Company Top 40, for 31 consecutive weeks up until this past March 24th. After enjoying nine months of extraordinary popularity and a Youtube record of 1.5 billion views, PSY will take up the challenge of following up after 'Gangnam Style Syndrome' with the release of his new single, 'Gentleman' on April 12.

The director responsible for 'Gangnam Style,' Jo Soo Hyun is participating in the creation of 'Gentleman.' Brown Eyed Girls Ga In will make an appearance in the video, as well as MBC TV 'Infinite Challenge' cast members like Yoo Jae Suk, Park Myung Soo, Noh Hong Chul, Jung Joon Ha, Jung Hyung Don, and Haha. 

PSY will open his concert for 'Happening' this month on April 13, a concert for which he has himself invested about 3 billion won (3 million USD), at the Seoul World Cup Stadium located in Mapo, Seoul. 

An official from YG Entertainment announced: "Approximately 100 media outlets, the top news agencies, broadcasting stations, and newspapers in the United States, Europe, and Asia have requested coverage of the unveiling."
