BlackBerry Q10 Release Date April 30 In Canada According To Leaked Memo From Mobile Carrier

The BlackBerry Q10 phone will be released on April 30, according to a leaked memo from Canadian BlackBerry carrier 'Rogers'.

A document allegedly from Rogers schedules the BlackBerry Q10 to make its debut for a "marketing launch" on April 30, according to wireless company news blog MobileSyrup.

For those loyal BlackBerry customers waiting for a BlackBerry 10 device with a physical keyboard, this release comes as great news. The Z10's touchscreen charms haven't won over those dedicated to BlackBerry's signature keyboard.

In the Q10, BlackBerry's traditional keyboard will merge with new software BlackBerry Hub, which allows for easy notification of important messages, quick handling, and a big battery.

Rogers said the Q10 will offer a 2,6000 MHz LTE spectrum network.

Canadian wireless carriers have also begun taking orders for the BlackBerry Q10, adding to rumors of its coming release.

Rogers said that there will be a Q10 model priced at $199.99 on select three-year contracts, similar pricing to the Z10 touchscreen model. The carrier will be competing with Bell and Telus in Canada.

BlackBerry still trails behind Android and iOS in terms of available mobile apps, but once developers create more apps, BlackBerry could be a major mobile competitor, according to CNET.

Although rumors suggest an April 30 release date for the BlackBerry Q10, the official release date hasn't been revealed. A spokeswoman for RIM, the company that owns BlackBerry, said, "The BlackBerry Q10 will be available in Canada in the coming weeks. Details on availability in other markets will follow soon.

Chief executive Thorsten Heins said that the Q10 won't be released in the United States until late May or June because of carrier testing, according to the Associated Press.
