Kelly Ripa Doesn’t Keep In Touch With Former Co-Host Regis Philbin, Says “I Haven’t Seen Him” Since He Left 'Live!'

Kelly Ripa admitted that she no longer talks to her longtime Live! Co-host Regis Philbin to the Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.

Kelly Ripa, who hosts Live! With Kelly And Michael, was asked at the NYC party for the 35 Most Powerful People in Media to compare 81-year-old Philbin to his replacement, Michael Strahan.

Kelly answered, "Well they're both incredible storytellers. They are both fiercely competitive. And they're both incredible football players."

Ripa replaced Kathie Lee Gifford in 2001 as Philbin's official co-host on Live! Former NFL player Strahan officially joined the show in September 2012, after Philbin retired in late 2011.

THR asked Ripa if she keeps in touch with Philbin, to which she replied, "I haven't seen him, no."

Ripa's admission is interesting, given that she was moved to tears when Philbin retired.

Philbin, however, doesn't resent that he was replaced by Strahan. He said of the current co-host, "He's got a good sense of humor. He's a good guy. I think they're doing great."

Apparently the retired life isn't suited for Regis Philbin; he recently decided to return to the TV as a host for FOX Sports 1's show called Rush Hour. On the program, Philbin will discuss sports topics with athletes and celebrity guests.

Philbin said, "I think we're going to have some fun and discuss sports - that will be the basis of it."
