K-Beauty Review: INNISFREE Skin Solution Mask, Trouble Care

Sometimes your face is in trouble. As someone with eczema, no matter how well I take care of my skin I will have occasional flare-ups, leaving my forehead red and bumpy with a rash. Or on weekends when I've eaten too much pizza (or days where I stress too much or don't drink enough water), I break out. When that happens, it's operation skin repair. I wanted to find out if Innisfree's Skin Solution Mask in Trouble Care would be the quick fix that I needed.

Description

The Innisfree Skin Solution Mask in Trouble Care boasts being the solution for for reddish and dehydrated skin. It contains propolis, the resinous substance collected by honeybees from tree buds to fill crevices and to seal and varnish honeycombs. Propolis is supposed to be moisturizing, healing, and helpful to get clear and healthy skin.

The mask also contains an organic "green complex" from Korea's Jeju Island, including extracts of green tea, tangerine, cactus, camellia leaves and orchid to keep your skin healthy, especially skin that is stressed or aggravated.

The most unique aspect of this mask from Innisfree is that the sheet is made from unbleached pure cotton, making it eco-friendly.

"The microhole structure of the cotton pad holds in the essence, having a good absorbing power," the website explains.

The website also warns that the dark spots found on the mask are cotton seeds, so do not be alarmed. It would've been nice if this was written on the back of the packaging - but it's only written in Korean.

Packaging

The Skin Solution Mask in Trouble Care is wrapped in silver slip with a graphic that looks vaguely like a honeycomb. I would have liked if the packaging made it more clear that there was honey in the mask - I didn't realize until I went home and read the ingredients carefully. The instructions for the product are listed in both Korean and English on the back. However, I noticed in Korean there was a warning notice but didn't see a corresponding section in English. I asked my Korean friend to translate and she told me what the website said: the dark spots are natural fibers. It would have been nice if this was in English too - I'm sure many a non-Korean speaking consumer was confused by the sheet mask's appearance.

Application

The directions ask users to cleanse and tone the skin and remove the mask from the package.

It advises users to place the mask on the face while avoiding the eye and lip area.

Leave the sheet on for 10-20 minutes, peel off, and pat remaining serum into the skin.

Product

This mask from Innisfree was much easier to unravel than the company's Hydro Gel masks. It had a nice, warm smell like honey - not too overpowering like Innisfree's It's Real Squeeze Mask in Aloe.

The mask's unbleached cotton fibers gave the sheet a thicker weave and made it nice and easy to apply. The brown specs were not off-putting and reminded me of recycled paper.

The fit of this mask was also a little smaller than Innisfree's Hydro Gel masks.

Results

The mask was very tingly, but not uncomfortably so. It cooled my face down - this would make a great mask to heal a nasty sunburn or red face from harsh winter wind.

When I removed the mask, the redness on my forehead and visibly reduced and my face felt cool to the touch. My skin tingled as well, like the icy-hot feeling of Bengay or Tiger Balm. This means the Innisfree Skin Solution Mask in Trouble Care was not exactly a relaxing experience - more invigorating, and would have made a great addition to a morning skincare routine.

I especially liked that my face wasn't sticky after the mask, as one would imagine with the honey properties. The serum absorbed very efficiently into my skin.
