'Wonder Woman' Actor Chris Pine Says Movie Will Be Shot On Film; Production To Start This Month

Chris Pine confirms that Warner Bros. and DC's "Wonder Woman" will be shot entirely on film stock.

The "Star Trek" actor sat down with Premiere and updated on his upcoming superhero film.

"I'm super excited, of course, Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will perform, and we will shoot in film," Pine shared. "What excites me most is to work in a movie with a superhero woman. With a woman in the lead role. I am teamed with this intelligent, beautiful and strong woman to defeat the villains and save humanity."

Chris Pine is set to play Steve Trevor, the titular heroine's love interest. However, it's unclear what role he'll play in "Wonder Woman's" narrative.

In the comic books, Trevor first came across Princess Diana a.k.a. Wonder Woman after he crash landed on Themyscira, the land of Amazons. The two eventually fell in love, but Diana set off to explore the world as Wonder Woman. In other stories, Trevor is a liaison between the US government and the Justice League.

According to Screen Rant, Breaking Bad director Michelle McLaren was originally attached to direct "Wonder Woman" but exited the project reportedly over creative differences with the studio. Patty Jenkins who left Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World" has been tasked to helm the female-led film.

Gadot's Wonder Woman will debut in Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman," starring alongside Henry Cavill's Man of Steel and Ben Affleck's Dark Knight. Her solo outing releases in 2017 and then she joins the rest of DC's heroes in the team-up film, "Justice League Part One.

The movie is expected to commence prinicpal photography this month.

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens on March 25, 2016. "Wonder Woman" arrives on June 23, 2017 and "Justice League Part One" on Nov. 17, 2017.
