The final film of the arc that began with 2011's "First Class" will also have the longest runtime in all of the installments.

"The X-Men movies I usually keep under two hours, but this one I may actually let be a longer movie because it's sort of a wrap-up of six movies," Singer previously said in a statement published by Screen Rant.

"Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible," reads the official plot summary published by Coming Soon. "Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign."

"As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" also stars Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Lucas Till as Havok. It will also introduce series newcomers Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Lana Condor as Jubilee, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Oscar Isaac as the titular villain.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" releases in theaters on May 27, 2016.
