Manny Pacquiao final fight is yet to be decided but the date is already set. The iconic Filipino boxer will fight his last match on April 9, 2016.
Now, his opponent is yet to be determined but the favorites so far are British boxer Amir Khan, undefeated American boxer Terrence Crawford and Golden Boy promotions fighter Lucas Matthyse.
However, Pacquiao is still hoping that he will get a rematch against now retired and undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. According to Pacquiao, his camp is in negotiations with Floyd's camp and even said that the talks are going somewhere.
"I don't have an opponent yet but we are negotiating with Floyd Mayweather's camp and we are hoping we get that. Thank you Filipinos," Pacquiao said.
Those remarks were quickly debunked by Floyd Mayweather's camp, he said, "It's totally false. I'm not fighting anymore, period."
ESPN's Stephen A. Smith echoed Mayweather's statement and he said that he was able to keep in touch with Floyd and he is absolutely sure that no talks are going on right now.
"I can't think so unless Floyd Mayweather is lying because he and I spoke a couple of weeks ago via text, and he emphatically stated that it was false, that there is no negotiations, that he is not fighting anymore, period," Stephen A. Smith of ESPN said via Opening Round.
Also, he threw some shots against the Filipino boxer, who he called desperate.
"So why Manny Pacquiao continues to bloviate to the public about a potential rematch just speaks of desperation, because obviously he just wants to redeem himself."
"What he doesn't know is he just hurts his chances to get Floyd to give him that rematch every time he opens his mouth and speaks about that shoulder injury that he obviously had to get operated on from all those shots he was missing in the game. He [Pacquiao] just reeks of disrespect. Floyd is under no obligation to give him a rematch."
